Traitors – Mental State (2016)

Well, it looks like the Florida grown Traitors have transitioned quite a ways from being a beatdown deathcore band in the vein of Black Tongue, as they dropped that style in favor of a nu-metal inspired deathcore record (the band even describes everything as “nu” lol). The Night Terrors EP demonstrated this style well, and now with their sophomore full-length Mental State, they’ve evolve to a band that may channel their intensity differently, but it’s still savage with its staccato rhythms and vocalist Tyler Shelton’s still unrestrained and pissed, proving that you can use a taboo genre of music subtlety without sounding like a tired cliche. Bump this shit if you’ve pissed, you won’t regret it.
