It just seems unreal that one of the most acclaimed experimental mathcore bands is throwing in the towel after 20 years of bending the rules and our brains. With that said, as much as I can enjoy and appreciate all of their work, this will always be my personal favorite.
While it has its experimental tendencies and mind bending song structures, Calculating Infinity seems to be their most straight-forward album. Part of this could be due to the fact that this was the last album with vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, which thus brought forth a new era of the band a few years later. However, what I love about Calculating Infinity is that it doesn’t wander off too much from what they’re going for, so yes, it’s not their most experimental, but the jagged loud guitar riffs obliterate and it’s still quite the mindfuck that this band is known to provide.
